Widener Law School sets up toll free hotline, offers free legal advice

Thanks to one of our Facebook 'fans' for sharing the following information: "Widener Law School has set up an Environmental helpline with both a toll free phone number, 1-888-953-6853, and an online form to request help.  They offer free legal advice to anyone regarding environmental issues, and have specifically talked to local residents about gas issues.  The goal is to advise people who cannot afford attorneys and who don't know what their options are.  Please spread the word about this resource!"  Read more about Widener's Environmental Law Center and the services they offer by checking out their blog:

Video archive of Marcellus Shale town hall meeting

On April 22, M&T Bank hosted a town hall meeting on issues surrounding Marcellus Shale drilling in Pennsylvania.  The meeting included a panel of representatives from legal, banking, state agency and gas industry professions; it was broadcast live and archived on PCNs (PA Cable Network) website.  There doesn't appear to be direct links to the archived videos but to access them, go to  www.pcntv.com/streaming/streaming.html , click on "Special Presentations" from the menu along the right, and scroll down until you find "April 22, 2010--Town Meeting--Marcellus Shale."  Please note that there are parts 1 &2 and that you will need Quicktime on your pc to view the video.  If your pc doesn't already have Quicktime installed, you will be prompted to do so.  The program is free and legitimate.

Big Announcement!

"Protect the Endless Mountains" is proud to announce we've joined blog forces with "How Should We Do the Mountain?," another great blog which focuses on natural gas drilling in northeastern PA.  You can see the actual blog by clicking HERE.  I would encourage everyone to take a look as she has lots of extra tidbits of info on her blog.  Considering we both have full time day jobs (and struggle to keep up some days!)--and rather than duplicating efforts--we decided to join forces in order to reach the widest audience possible. Therefore, beginning today, both blogs will automatically post to the "Protect the Endless Mountains" Facebook page.  Over time, we'll be incorporating many of those extra tidbits--as well as those that can be found on the "Protect" blog--onto the Facebook page.    

If you're reading these updates only via the "Protect the Endless Mountains" blog, you can continue to read the "How Should We Do the Mountain" blog posts under the "Blogs I'm following" section on the lower right hand side of the page.
